FAQS
Is Mexico Safe?
Guadalajara is the second largest city in Mexico, and has a lower crime rate than most United States cities of similar size. The retreat center is located an hour east of Guadalajara in a peaceful isolated ranching community that requires a toll to enter. Our team prioritizes our client’s well-being and we’ve made taken every effort to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests.
Like any destination, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings and exercise common sense. While there are areas of Mexico that have experienced security concerns, our location is safe and secure.
Is Ayahuasca Safe?
Ayahuasca, a powerful plant-based brew, should be approached with caution and taken in a safe and controlled environment under the guidance of experienced facilitators. While it has been used for centuries in traditional ceremonies, the safety of ayahuasca largely depends on various factors such as one’s physical and mental health, the setting, dosage, and the expertise of the facilitators. It is important to thoroughly research and choose a reputable retreat center or ceremony provider, disclose any pre-existing medical conditions or medications, and carefully follow the guidelines provided. Overall, when used responsibly and with proper preparation, ayahuasca can offer profound experiences.
Where does the medicine come from?
Our Ayahuasca comes from Pucallpa Peru. Kambo and Bufo comes from Mexico and Our Shaman works with a very ethical group that ensures the proper respect of the frog or toad when the venom is extracted. The animals are not harmed in any way.
Is this a Cult?
There is no required belief system whatsoever to participate in our retreats. Participants subscribe to a range of beliefs ranging from Agnostic to Christianity to Eastern Religions. While this is an all-inclusive retreat, you are free to choose to participate in all or just some of the ceremonies we offer. We are offering exactly what we’ve experienced ourselves and know the results from participating in all ceremonies.
Will internet service be available during the retreat?
Yes, most common areas of the ranch offer high-speed wifi and cellular service. The locations where the ceremonies will take place do not as it is recommended to eliminate the distractions of modern technology for spiritual benefit.
Can I extend my stay?
Guests are welcome to stay beyond the retreat dates at additional costs, however medicine ceremonies are only available during the specific retreat times.
Is the water safe to drink in Mexico?
Our water comes from a well deep below the ground and is safe to drink. We offer refillable water bottles for guest to fill up at one of our water stations located in common areas.
Can I leave the Finca during non activity hours?
We recommend you stay at the finca during the duration of your retreat. We do not provide transportation off the finca during retreats and due to the location it may be challenging to find an uber or lyft.
If I forget something, is there a store nearby?
We have a small boutique store on location that sells tolietry items in the event you forget anything.
We accept USD or Mexcian Pesos. We allow the option of using the card on file at the time participants registered for the retreat, but highly recommend having cash on hand.
Should I bring cash?
We highly recommend having cash on hand in the event you would like to purchase items from our boutique store or any activity that may have an additional cost such as bufo or a massage.

Can I take drugs, herbs or supplements before or during Ayahuasca?
Ayahuasca can have interactions with certain drugs and medications. It is important to avoid having any other substances in your system when consuming ayahuasca and other medicinal plants. We strongly recommend following our medical guidelines to ensure your safety and the safety of others. It is necessary to allow sufficient time for the elimination of street drugs and certain medications from your system. We advise stopping the use of prescription drugs, recreational drugs, and specific herbs two weeks before your retreat, and stopping the use of drugs and certain supplements four days before the retreat.
If you are taking prescribed medications that may interact with ayahuasca, consult the provided list and speak with your doctor well in advance. Combining substances like cocaine, amphetamines, or MDMA with ayahuasca can be fatal due to increased heart rate, raised blood pressure, and the risk of stroke, heart attack, or cerebral hemorrhaging. Psychological safety is also essential, as episodes of panic or psychosis have been reported following ayahuasca use, particularly in individuals with certain mental disorders. Taking precautions, undergoing a pre-selection process, psychological preparation, and participating in a controlled context can help reduce risks associated with ayahuasca.
It is crucial to review our contraindications regarding drugs and medications, including MAO inhibitors and medications affecting the serotonin system, and consult your physician before making any changes to your medical schedule.
Please note that the provided list is not exhaustive, and we will review any medications or supplements you are taking before confirming your booking.
